Safety Officer – European Conference Board

The Safety Officer is the European point of contact for matters relating to motorcycle, touring and event safety within the Blue Knights European Conference.

The Safety Officer supports Chapters, Road Captains and event organizers in an advisory capacity, promotes the exchange of experience and works with them to develop practical recommendations and solutions.

The Safety Officer is a member of the European Conference Board in an advisory capacity, alongside the Webmaster and Quartermaster.

Your Responsibilities

  • Serve as the European point of contact for Chapters on motorcycle, touring and event safety
  • Advise and support Chapters, Road Captains and event organizers
  • Collect and share experience, best practices, recommendations and checklists
  • Provide support regarding group rides, safety briefings, tour planning, communication and emergency procedures
  • Support and advise larger European and inter-Chapter events
  • Promote safety awareness and the exchange of experience throughout the European Conference
  • Maintain active and regular communication with the Chapters
  • Independently develop and implement new ideas and projects related to safety
  • Actively participate in the work of the European Conference Board
  • Make effective use of modern digital communication, planning and documentation tools

Responsibility for the organization and execution of individual rides and events remains with the respective Chapter, event organizer or Road Captain. The Safety Officer's role towards the Chapters is fundamentally advisory and supportive.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Active membership in a Blue Knights Chapter
  • Extensive and well-established motorcycle riding experience
  • Experience with group rides and tour planning
  • A strong understanding of defensive and responsible motorcycle riding
  • Willingness to travel within Europe
  • Enjoyment of international cooperation and working with people from different countries and cultures
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative and a willingness to contribute new ideas
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence in using digital communication tools, video conferencing, navigation and route-planning systems, and digital documentation
  • Good spoken and written German and English
  • Additional European language skills are an advantage

Experience as a Road Captain or in the fields of traffic safety, law enforcement, emergency services, first aid, training or event organization is an advantage, but is not a mandatory requirement.

What Do We Expect?

We are looking for a member who will actively embrace this role.

You should be approachable, able to work independently, actively maintain contact with our Chapters and be willing to develop safety activities across Europe together with the European Conference Board.

As Safety Officer, you are expected to actively participate in EC Board Meetings, the annual European Conference and, whenever possible, other major Blue Knights events.
